look like they could have been taken in the Dusit Zoo in Bangkok – this based on the lake in the background of #2 picture and the fact that the large snake is available for picture taking

(3)
This is a bell tower similar to those in the Grand Palace or nearby Wat Po (Reclining Buddha temple) which are close by where picture #9 was taken – I haven’t found an image that looks quite the same but it is obviously from a Buddhist Temple

possibly located not far from where picture #9 was taken

Rajadamnern Avenue view. The buildings (owned and managed by the Crown Property Bureau) are still in existence as of August 2013. Traffic conditions are congested nowadays as this is one of the main routes coming from the Thonburi side of the Chao Phaya River. This is also one of the main areas where most of the anti-government demonstrations have occurred over the years.

The old Sanam Luang “Sunday Market” located nearby the Grand Palace and looking towards the Supreme Court building in the background. Note that this market is no longer used as such and has been moved to the Chatuchak Park area in northern Bangkok. Chatuchak is now a weekend market but has certain areas open everyday, including a few a/c shopping malls. It used to be run by the Bangkok Metropolitan Authority but has been taken over and run by the State Railway of Thailand authority since they are the site owners.

The venerable “10-wheeler” truck which is known as the “King of the Road”.
Woe unto them who dare challenge their right to whatever part of the road they desire to drive on. You might even call it the “Semi” of Thailand. They have even developed a second truck bed version to haul even more freight.

Melvin and his friend (possibly on Padipat Road outside Seri Court or could be in area where most of these photos were taken. Shophouses look the same all over Bangkok – only the signs would be able to help in the location.

Another character trimmed bush somewhere in Bangkok – can’t tell where at this time.

Appears to be one of the temples in the Grand Palace area.

The venerable water buffalo which used to wander the streets and vacant land in Bangkok.
Now they have mostly disappeared from even the use by farmers in rural areas of Thailand.

Esso gas stations are the Asian equivalent of Exxon in the US.
They rank #2 in sales of gasoline in Thailand at the present time.
