7th RRFS - 1969 - 1970

Photos from Thom Pettigrew - Recovered from Bill Bogart's old 7th Web Site

Here is something that will look familiar to a lot of the 05H's out there.
It's a 8-on-1-off trick sschedule for the swing shift.

We didn't have any women in the barracks in 1970 :) Here is a wide angle lens shot of our barracks.
We were upstairs in the second barracks ...next to HQ.

This is a picture I took from a taxi on the road to Non Kai of a pop seller....the kids who
used to approach taxi's that stopped hoping the occupants would nod and indicate they
wanted a soda. If we nodded the top came off the bottle and the coca-cola was poured
into a plastic bag with a straw. The children melted my heart with their hard work for almost
nothing. I think a coke cost 1 baht in 1970.

This is a picture of Udorn taken in 1970...from the roof of the Charoen Hotel.
In the distance you can see the Seiko clock tower (as it was called then).

Remember the Thais pumping water with these irrigation slings?
It was one of 2 methods I saw. The other was a peddled water wheel.
